Living On Campus

There's no place like home - but residential life at Frostburg comes pretty close.

Living on campus has its benefits, such as access to a fitness center and apartment-style suites with private kitchens and baths.

But it is more than just amenities. Residence halls provide students with a living/learning environment which extends education beyond the classroom. You will have the chance to live with others of diverse backgrounds, ideas and values and participate in a wide range of activities. All full-time first-year students are required to live in one of the on-campus residence halls or Edgewood Commons Apartments for 4 consecutive semesters (3 consecutive semesters if starting in the spring).

All rooms are equipped with beds, closets, desks, cable television connections, and Wi-Fi. We include, as part of standard university furniture, a micro-fridge combination microwave-refrigerator/freezer unit. Low-cost laundry facilities are also available to all residential students.

Special Interest Communities

Living/learning communities are a great way to get connected with people who share your passions and with resources that help you get to where you want to be. Our communities range from freshmen adjusting to life on campus, to scholars immersing themselves in their field of study, to citizen leaders helping to make the world a better place.

As a new resident, you can choose from:

  • FYE (The First Year Experience), offering activities to help you with the transition from high school to college.
  • Honors housing with single and double rooms for first-year students enrolled in Frostburg State's Honors program.
  • STEM@Sowers, designed for incoming freshmen interested in majoring in science, technology, engineering or mathematics to live together in one newly renovated residence hall. This allows you to network and study with students with similar majors, interests and goals.
  • Nursing Connection, linking first-year nursing majors and intended majors with nursing faculty to support your academic journey.
  • ECHOSTARS, a community of first-year students interested in getting involved with local community service.
  • Gender-Inclusive Housing, spaces where gender identities and expressions are appreciated.
